Day 5: Singapore Menswear Fashion Week 2011-Joey Samson

Designer Joey Samson made a mark at the inaugural Singapore Menswear Fashion Week 2011.  The success of the 40-piece design narrative showcasing a unique aesthetic is Filipino fashion in modern translation.  Construction and detailing is style exemplified with the use of a variety of fabrics and contemporary neutrals.  Pushing the boundaries, new forms, cuts and silhouettes took shape in fashion forward edge.  Checks of all sizes paraded the runways with pinstriped or plain textured tapered pants.  The traditional and classic was impressively reinvented in detailing and updating styling sensibilities. Fine tailoring are masterfully displayed seamlessly on the endless runway with an upbeat feel of the times. The essence in mind in his exemplary collection is all about dressing up modern Pinoy fashion in the international style landscape. Filipino talent is definitely world-class!  Mabuhay!

Day 5: Singapore Menswear Fashion Week 2011-Jerome Lorico and Jasler Ubaldo

Show time!!!  Finally after days of preparations at the convention hall, the Filipino participants to the Singapore Menswear Fashion Week 2011 are more than ready to unveil their design masterpiece .  Came in early and took backstage photos of the other two designers--Jerome Lorico and Jasler Ubaldo.  I will be having a separate entry for Joey Samson since there might be an overload of pictures if I put them all in one.  Singapore based Jasler Hubalde is the designer of Jail Jeans.  One look at their clothes rack one work comes to mind--rock star. The label's collection took jeans to a whole new level of edge with crystals and metallic decor detailing.  Modern cuts and silhouettes displayed contemporary denim for men from this designer who's a third generation from a family of traditional tailors.  A standout collection definitely at its best for the stage or under the spotlight.

Lorico's collection was a display of modern fusion and experimentation of fabrication.  Textural appeal dramatically showcased contemporary menswear in a different light with on the radar silhouettes.  Up to date styling in noteworthy attractions is refreshingly appealing for the fashion forward man-ner of dressing.  The ingenious usage of sea grass  in shoes is brilliantly worthy of applause.  The cohesive collection features a certain uniqueness in design without compromising identity and fashion.

Day 4: Singapore Menswear Fashion Week 2011- Karl Lagerfeld Exhibit

After rehearsals, we headed to the MBS mall and saw this interesting exhibit showcasing the black and white photos of one of global fashion's living icon--Karl Lagerfeld.   One of the most influential moving force in fashion today is at the helm of top labels such as Chanel, Fendi, Lagerfeld Gallery and Karl Lagerfeld. The design master in nearly the past decade has taken photography as another feather on his cap and is a proprietor of a bookshop and publishing house as well.  This ongoing exhibit is part of Singapore Menswear Fashion Week 2011.

Day 3: Singapore Menswear Fashion Week 2011

9am.
Free seating.
Started the day early and was at Marina Bay Sands(MBS) at 830am to watch rehearsals for the Joey Samson show and note down possible changes or anything needed still to do.  Am loving the music and set up with stills as backdrop.  Here is an idea of what am talking about...
Stop!  in the name of love?
Oliver's twist.
En Point.
Doesn't he remind you of Jason Priestley in the original Beverly Hills 90210?
Surfer's up with Keanu Reeves look alike.
Don't look back...
Last march.
Under the microscope.
There's a room backstage where all the clothes, accessories and shoes are kept.  Racks of designer collections fill the space almost like a can of sardines.  A shopping haven waiting for all eyes to see.  Finally was able to take a long break after rehearsal and had the day free a little before lunch.  Had to wait for photographer Joan Bitagcol coz she was coming in at 230pm in MBS.  While we were waiting, Joey and I ate at Mozza (restaurant of Mario Batali-the famous chef who had a show called Molto Mario).  When Joan finally arrived, we headed to Orchard to make a quick look around on what we can potentially add to our closets.  Nothing really much this time around, we were all on "diet shopping" mode to save for a rainy day?  Perhaps...
A room full.
Like a deck of cards.
My production i.d, plus behind are the dates and time slots of the shows and events.
Busy schedule.
Set cards of almost all the models participating in the show.
Will surely miss the Style concert tonight.

Microscopic puzzlement.
Makes you wonder what this photo is.  It could be the fine fibers of the pina or jusi (both are indigenous materials used to create fabrication for the Barong Tagalog)used as detailing in Joey Samson's collection.  An architectural wonder tinkering our minds of endless possibilities.  From simple connect the dots to the vast constellations, whatever comes to mind in is anybody's interpretation of this visual amazement.
