Treat for a King

Celebrations are very important most specially if it's for someone dear to us. Once a year we give tribute to one of the most valuable person in our lives--our dads. Are you thinking of something special for this up and coming special occasion? Well, Dusit Thani Manila's Devarana Spa has come up with a month long offering--Woody Neroli Facial, you'd want to treat your dad to he simply couldn't resist. On his special month from June 1-30, pamper him with the ultimate facial treatment to give that refreshing boost from all the stress of day to day life. This special promotion isn't limited to dads only but also for men in general who matter and deserve this exclusive one of a kind special.

This author was recently invited to experience the Woody Neroli Facial which is an hour and thirty minutes of pure uninterrupted bliss. The treatment begins with a thirty minute soothing back massage with your choice of aromatic oil from four special in-house concoctions. This helps to ease body stress and increase the circulation. The next step is the gentle cleansing and face scrub. Feather like touches on the skin begin the process of purification thus removing the rough outer layers which is then followed by an aromatic woody compress and face massage. One can't help but notice to feel their skin breathe and is released from all the tension. This step helps in the relaxation of facial muscles, boosting circulation and firming skin. we move on to the heart of the treatment-- the application of an Aloe Vera mask which works together with a Neroli Facial Mist(flower spray) to tone and rehydrate the skin. This flower spray has a remarkable cooling effect that locks in all the natural ingredients used to bring back the natural glow of the skin. Then followed by a cold compress to close the pores and seal the revitalizing experience. The treatment ends with an eye cream and moisturizer application to address the puffiness and restore the skin to its natural moisture and balance. Offering the best ingredients and personal service to its clients, Devarana Spa exclusively uses only top of the marine based products by Algotherm from France. This must-go and must try five-star experience is truly worth it and available for only PHP 3,800++. A worth it pampering men wouldn't want to miss.

Sweet Haven

Going to the spa is one of the ultimate joys and the perfect place to distress.  I was recently invited at the posh Devarana Spa at Dusit Thani in Makati by no less than 2011 Women of Allure awardee PR Manager Ms. Danelle Palang to try their most special offering.  Decided to go one night after a hard day's work to check out the Scrub Cake treatment that everyone's raving about.  I was welcomed by a great staff who's royal treatment I highly commend and servicing that's definitely nothing below five star.
The Scrub cake treatment is the first of its kind in the Philippines. These sweet skin wonders come in four luscious treats to choose from namely Carrot & Orange, Butterfly Pea and Coconut, Green Tea & Red Bean and Pumpkin & Bael Fruit. Made from organic components, the natural one hour indulgence is a wonderful experience of rejuvenating the senses.  The skin comes to life as it is polished to perfection taking away all the dirt, excessive oils and actually feel "purified".  One falls under a trance with it's soothing aroma while it gently cleanses, exfoliates and nourishes every part of the body. The purifying and hydrating properties of this specially concoction refreshingly leaves your skin smooth with a radiant glow.  One is "lifted" with that unmistakable feeling of light and bright. I highly recommend this sweet special treatment and assure you it's all worth it.  I didn't want to leave this new found sanctuary but honestly the scent really made me hungry. Being a certified spa-addict, am really thinking of coming back soon.  After all, why settle anything less somewhere else when you've already experienced the unforgettable heaven in a scrub.

My little Japan

Irashaimase.
I love Japanese food.  From the sushi, sashimi, ramen and gyozas, more often than not I could eat a lot of it. I was recently invited by my good friend Danelle Palang for lunch at the popular UMU at Dusit Thani in Makati and knew it was going to be a yummy treat. UMU is one of my favorite restaurants in the city.  The famous food haven  boasts of beautiful and spacious interiors, five-star service, privacy  and most importantly a good menu with a wide range of Japanese specialties.  You can come fashionably comfortable because there's no strict dress code (but no slippers please) and its a nice place where one can eat and at the same time relax with friends.

Lost in space.
Mellow yellow.
Light and Easy.
One of Umu's must-try signature special is their Teppanyaki Lunch Buffet (available from Monday-Friday).  An overflowing assortment of fresh seafoods, vegetables, chicken, pork and prime beef.  You can stuff yourself as much as you want until you get a delightful food coma.  You can always ask for hot tea to aid you in your digestion.  The perfect indulgence for those Japanese foodies out there.
Jap-setting.
Fish without tail.
Veggie delight.
Under the sea.
The lunch turned out to be an entire moment of catching up as usual. With us was up and coming young designer Pablo Cabahug ( Danelle's schoolmate in college) who recently won Most Promising Designer Look of Style Awards By Look Magazine and Phil.Daily Inquirer in cooperation with the British Council Manila. As part of his prize, the designer will be going to Central St. Martins in London this coming April to study a short course in design.  Could barely get up from my chair from the hearty meal. Excused myself for a smoke and when i got to the veranda facing the Japanese Garden (one of the "spots" where smoking is allowed) I was delighted to see schools of Koi.  Call me loonie tooney but the sight gave me a moment to embrace silence. A good insight after a wonderful meal and pleasant time with friends. Looking forward to my next visit to this wonderful place i call my little Japan.
