Asian Dragon Dec 2014-Jan 2015

Fashion and travel together is amazing work and fun experience.  Exploring new places is fascinating and stretches the imagination to produce larger than life images that are meant to be relevantly inspiring.  The author and the Asian Dragon magazine team shot in Thailand a few months back and was challenged by a theme for editorial fashion.  Loads of boxes of Filipino designer wear were transported to Bangkok to be shot at heritage sights that have become the backdrop to forefronting fashion.  Despite the extreme heat where we constantly bathed in sweat, the fun never stops as we laughed our way throughout the shoot.  The result, are picture perfect images that not only displayed the best of Philippine fashion but also the passion of the team that had a memorable and experience to last forever.

Asian Dragon 2014

As a fashion stylist for more than two decades, creating an editorial is never a job but an exercise on free flowing creativity. After the thematic or conceptual direction is given, an explosive and spontanious synergy of passion happens.  The team becomes one in a distinct momentum of high energy that overflows almost everywhere.  A mood and look is set to create an atmosphere and translate a visual narrative of fashion.  The latest Asian Dragon shoot took the artists to the streets of Makati city at night.  Guerrilla it was as the team captured moments amidst the constant passing of vehicles and the slight presence rain.  Style reigned that night as the dark but glistening road was brightened up by Mida's touch in ensembles that looked like glittering stars. Dresses, gowns, seperates and a wide range of jewelry and accessories shimmered with a look of luxe all in its glorious splendor.  From one layout to another, the escalating energy brought the team with an all time high in the pursuit of style perfection.  And as the night ended, the visionary appeal in a couple of hours of work made another fantasy a reality-this is what fashion is all about.

BTS BKK

Fashion and travel is the perfect combination.  With fashion editorials, destination locations create the mood, landscape, vibe and at times a statement as it becomes the backdrop of a shoot.  Asian Dragon and Asian Dragon bride( glossies in te Philippines) recently flew to Bangkok to fill postcard perfect pages in breathtaking style narratives.  Photographed by Jo Ann Bitagcol, this author and the team including editor Liza Ilarde were transported to various breathtaking locations close to the heart of the city.  In fashion, work and play produce outstanding results when the energy becomes one and everyone becomes family.  Despite the unbearable heat of the equatorial weather, the team breezed through shooting in historical and public landmarks to produce a memorable body of work.  After shooting for two days, bringing three huge boxes of clothes filled with gowns, dresses, accessories from the best designers in the Philippines was definitely worthwhile.  Life behind the fashion scene isn't all that gloss for to produce a great photo entails hard work.  No one really know what it takes to achieve an amazing shot when it comes out in the magazine, but the reality of it all is a lot of hands at work.  Passion, discipline, dedication, artistry and the pursuit of perfection all rolled into one bring out the best.  Beyond the "glossy" job, the company you keep with great laughs, quality time and of course fantastic gastronomic adventure truly make this trip one for the books.  Til the next one!

BTS (Asian Dragon Fashion Editorial)

Behind all the gloss in the publishing industry is a lot of hard work. To get a picture perfect, blood, sweat and tears where logistics can get out of control.  Behind the scenes gives one a glimpse of what fashion is beyond the surface.  A documentary behind the veils of all flash, it is a captured still from of a moment in the making.  Generally, the perception of industry is quite blinding but behind the lights is a vision, an expression, discipline  and more importantly passion for fashion.
